Why My Literacy Leader Is
Better Than Chocolate
Contest

[Click here to download the entry form.]

Is your literacy mentor simply the best? Does she or he make all the difference when it comes to how you work with children and colleagues? Tell us all about it. Make us laugh, make us cry, make us eager to send a big box of chocolates and professional development materials to your school.

No purchase necessary - not even a stamp! Describe in 500 words or less what makes your literacy leader so special - tell us a story about how he or she changed your view of teaching reading and writing, or moved mountains to promote literacy at your school, or threw you a lifeline when you most needed support.

You might win a $1000 grand-prize package for your literacy leader which includes:

  • A $150 tower of Godiva chocolates

  • The winner's choice of four Choice Literacy Workshop DVD kits (a $650 value)

  • Free annual memberships for you and the winner to the Choice Literacy website (a $200 value)

Three honorable mentions will be awarded a prize package valued at $450:

  • A $50 selection of Godiva chocolates

  • A Choice Literacy Workshop DVD kit (a $200 value)

  • Free annual memberships for you and the winner to the Choice Literacy website (a $200 value)

Literacy leaders come in all forms, with many different job titles, so we expect nominations of favorite colleagues, literacy coaches, principals, librarians, and community members. All entries must be received by midnight, January 30th, 2007. Winners will be announced on February 7th, 2007.

You can download the one-page entry form by clicking on the link below, and fax it back to us at 207-433-1012:

No self-nominations are allowed, but there is no rule against downloading the entry form and putting it in the mailboxes of a few colleagues who think you are a great literacy leader. Maybe with a subtle hint like "Yum yum - I sure love chocolate!" scrawled across the top?

If you've got an hour to spare and a great story to tell about a literacy leader, you've got a really good chance of winning this contest. We've timed the contest to end at the exact moment research shows most literacy leaders abandon their weight-loss New Year's resolutions, and are feeling too broke to purchase new professional development materials.

Be a literacy hero - or at least tell the world about one by entering the Choice Literacy "Why My Literacy Leader is Better Than Chocolate" contest today.
